March 5, 2009 - St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital and staff cardiologists recently teamed up with Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Services to provide cardiovascular services training for the Fort Bend County EMS Paramedic Academy.
The paramedic cadets in the program learned valuable information concerning the assessment, treatment and proper disposition of patients suffering from acute coronary syndromes, as well as learning the capabilities of a modern interventional cardiovascular catheterization lab, such as the catheterization lab at St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital. The physicians who offered personal time to make presentations to the paramedic academy include Bernardo Treistman, MD; Christopher Frank, MD; Guilherme Silva, MD; Juan Carlos Rozo, MD; Jasvinder Sidhu, MD and Andres Mesa, MD.
“The opportunity to personally work with our local emergency medical service is a good way to assist in providing excellent care to our community," said Steve Teeple, director of Cardiovascular Services at St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital. “Every day, paramedics play a very important role in saving lives. They need to have a good support system from the medical community, and we are willing to offer that support.”
St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital is located at 1317 Lake Pointe Parkway in Sugar Land, Texas. The Emergency Department is always open, and Texas Children’s Hospital provides emergency services for pediatric patients. For more information, visit
