St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital Groundbreaking: November 16, 2007

Dozens of St. Luke’s employees witnessed an important milestone when they attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital, held on November 16, 2006. Also attending the ceremony were The Right Rev. Don A. Wimberly, Chairman, Board of Directors, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System; Lee Hogan, Executive Chairman, Board of Directors, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System; David J. Fine, President and CEO, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System; and Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace.

Mr. Fine welcomed the ceremony attendees and thanked the many people involved in the event, including Bishop Wimberly, the St. Luke’s Board of Directors and founding physicians.

“The new hospital will preserve all of the qualities that make St. Luke’s special: our superior patient care, our faith-based mission and our commitment to the community,” said Mr. Fine. “We’re privileged to be here in Sugar Land.”

Mr. Hogan, who also addressed the attendees, said that the groundbreaking event began the process of spreading world-class quality of care outside the Texas Medical Center to Sugar Land.

Following the remarks, Mayor Wallace presented a proclamation and Bishop Wimberly blessed the ground where the new hospital would be built.
